SMUECC

by Susanne Beck and Anne Nowitzki © 2007

Ancient Rome used to embellish large bath houses with illustrations. In those days one used small mosaic stone glazed with colours. Today there are industrial tiles available in the size of 20 x 20 cm. Susanne Beck and Anne Julia Nowitzki designed nine large wall illustrations (280 x 200 cm) and constructed them entirely from regular tiles available in trade shops.

The majority of those motifs titled »SMUECC« depict techno-futuristic landscapes or break with traditional themes for tiles through eruptions of pop art. This concept is part of Susanne Beck's and Anne Julia Nowitzki's diploma. Further themes are in progress. The ultimate goal is to find a partnership with a manufacturer.
